data-contrast=\"auto\">Au printemps 2020, Solange Denervaud, bioing\u00e9nieure dipl\u00f4m\u00e9e de l\u2019Ecole Polytechnique F\u00e9d\u00e9rale de Lausanne, a obtenu son doctorat en Neurosciences, sous la direction du Prof. Patric Hagmann, du CHUV, et en collaboration avec diff\u00e9rents Professeurs nationaux et internationaux.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Durant ses ann\u00e9es de th\u00e8se, Solange Denervaud a r\u00e9alis\u00e9 la premi\u00e8re \u00e9tude jamais men\u00e9e sur l\u2019impact de la p\u00e9dagogie Montessori sur le d\u00e9veloppement c\u00e9r\u00e9bral de l\u2019enfant. Elle a approch\u00e9 cette question de mani\u00e8re globale, en liant des techniques d\u2019imagerie c\u00e9r\u00e9brale avec celles de la psychologie du comportement. Sa th\u00e8se met en lumi\u00e8re pour la premi\u00e8re fois les m\u00e9canismes neuro-d\u00e9veloppementaux sous-jacents que la p\u00e9dagogie Montessori soutient, et permet d\u2019expliquer pourquoi ces enfants d\u00e9veloppent une pens\u00e9e autonome et cr\u00e9ative, entre 5 et 13 ans.<\/p>\n<p>La Professeure am\u00e9ricaine Angeline Lillard, r\u00e9f\u00e9rence mondiale en mati\u00e8re de recherches sur la p\u00e9dagogie Montessori, fut une des expertes lors de la d\u00e9fense de cette th\u00e8se, dont elle a soulign\u00e9 \u00e0 la fois la richesse, la vari\u00e9t\u00e9 et l&rsquo;excellence.<\/p>\n<p>La Dre Solange Denervaud a eu la gentillesse de r\u00e9diger en fran\u00e7ais des pr\u00e9sentations de ses articles r\u00e9cemment parus:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a C<\/span><span lang=\"FR-CH\" xml:lang=\"FR-CH\" data-contrast=\"auto\">e sont l\u00e0 des points <\/span><span lang=\"FR-CH\" xml:lang=\"FR-CH\" data-contrast=\"auto\">important<\/span><span lang=\"FR-CH\" xml:lang=\"FR-CH\" data-contrast=\"auto\">s pour des \u00e9tudes scientifiques, o\u00f9<\/span><span lang=\"FR-CH\" xml:lang=\"FR-CH\" data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0il\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"FR-CH\" xml:lang=\"FR-CH\" data-contrast=\"auto\">est n\u00e9cessaire\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"FR-CH\" xml:lang=\"FR-CH\" data-contrast=\"auto\">d\u2019avoir des \u00e9chantillons d\u2019\u00e9l\u00e8ves de taille suffisante pour <\/span><span lang=\"FR-CH\" xml:lang=\"FR-CH\" data-contrast=\"auto\">valider les\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"FR-CH\" xml:lang=\"FR-CH\" data-contrast=\"auto\">effets\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"FR-CH\" xml:lang=\"FR-CH\" data-contrast=\"auto\">mesur\u00e9s d\u2019une part, et pouvoir s\u2019affranchir de certains biais d\u2019autre part<\/span><span lang=\"FR-CH\" xml:lang=\"FR-CH\" data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"FR-CH\" xml:lang=\"FR-CH\" data-contrast=\"auto\">(<\/span><span lang=\"FR-CH\" xml:lang=\"FR-CH\" data-contrast=\"auto\">par exemple\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"FR-CH\" xml:lang=\"FR-CH\" data-contrast=\"auto\">le<\/span><span lang=\"FR-CH\" xml:lang=\"FR-CH\" data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0niveau socio-\u00e9conomique<\/span><span lang=\"FR-CH\" xml:lang=\"FR-CH\" data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0des sujets, le choix actifs de la p\u00e9dagogie par les parents, l\u2019\u00e2ge de scolarisation, etc.<\/span><span lang=\"FR-CH\" xml:lang=\"FR-CH\" data-contrast=\"auto\">).<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Angeline S. Lillard et Nicole Else Quest ont r\u00e9alis\u00e9 une \u00e9tude qui pose les bases de l\u2019analyse scientifique de la p\u00e9dagogie Montessori (Lillard &amp; Quest, 2006). Leurs mesures ont \u00e9t\u00e9 faites en collaboration avec des \u00e9coles publiques de Milwaukee (Wisconsin, US), o\u00f9 les \u00e9l\u00e8ves d\u2019un m\u00eame quartier sont r\u00e9partis de mani\u00e8re al\u00e9atoire (par loterie) dans une \u00e9cole Montessori ou dans un \u00e9tablissement traditionnel, ce qui offre un cadre id\u00e9al pour des \u00e9tudes comparatives exemptes de biais. Ces \u00e9tudes ont permis de d\u00e9montrer que, par rapport \u00e0 des \u00e9l\u00e8ves de m\u00eame \u00e2ge, des enfants Montessori de 6 et 12 ans en moyenne ont\u202f:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"5\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><strong>Des r\u00e9sultats\u00a0acad\u00e9miques<\/strong> sup\u00e9rieurs en\u00a0lecture\u00a0et en\u00a0math\u00e9matiques<\/li>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"5\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"2\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><strong>Une flexibilit\u00e9\u00a0cognitive<\/strong> plus d\u00e9velopp\u00e9e\u00a0permettant de s\u2019adapter \u00e0 des changements plus facilement<\/li>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"5\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"3\" data-aria-level=\"1\">Une capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 se repr\u00e9senter quelque chose qui est au-del\u00e0 de soi\u00a0<strong>(th\u00e9orie de l\u2019esprit) <\/strong>sup\u00e9rieure\u00a0\u00e0 l\u2019\u00e2ge de 6 ans\u202f; cet aspect est li\u00e9 \u00e0 la facult\u00e9 d\u2019empathie \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e2ge adulte<\/li>\n<li><strong>Des comportements\u00a0pro-sociaux<\/strong> plus avanc\u00e9s, avec\u00a0par exemple des approches collaboratives positives,\u00a0des strat\u00e9gies de r\u00e9solution de conflits constructives\u00a0et\u00a0des comportements non-violents pendant la r\u00e9cr\u00e9ation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Depuis, d\u2019autres \u00e9tudes ont \u00e9t\u00e9 publi\u00e9es. Toutes ne sont pas au b\u00e9n\u00e9fice d\u2019un design exp\u00e9rimental al\u00e9atoire, mais reportent des r\u00e9sultats significatifs et int\u00e9ressants. Par exemple, en comparant des \u00e9l\u00e8ves ayant termin\u00e9 leur scolarit\u00e9 dans des \u00e9tablissements Montessori \u00e0 des pairs d\u2019\u00e9tablissements traditionnels (Dohrmann &amp; al., 2007), il a \u00e9t\u00e9 observ\u00e9 que\u202f:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"10\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"2\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><strong>Les effets \u00e0 long-terme sont maintenus pour les comp\u00e9tences acad\u00e9miques en math\u00e9matiques et en science\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Dans une analyse compl\u00e9mentaire\u00a0(Lillard\u00a0et al., 2012),\u00a0Lillard\u00a0et ses coll\u00e8gues ont\u00a0\u00e9valu\u00e9\u00a0l\u2019impact du degr\u00e9 de fid\u00e9lit\u00e9 dans l\u2019application de la m\u00e9thode Montessori\u00a0sur les r\u00e9sultats des \u00e9l\u00e8ves, en comparant trois types d\u2019\u00e9coles\u202f:\u00a0\u00ab\u202fEcole traditionnelle\u202f\u00bb,\u00a0\u00ab\u202fMontessori traditionnelle\u202f\u00bb,\u00a0\u00ab\u202fInspir\u00e9e de la m\u00e9thode Montessori\u202f\u00bb\u00a0(par exemple des \u00e9coles qui isolent certains aspects, tel que le mat\u00e9riel, sans en appliquer toutes les caract\u00e9ristiques). Les r\u00e9sultats ont d\u00e9montr\u00e9 qu\u2019il n\u2019y a pas d\u2019effet significatif pour les \u00e9coles\u00a0\u00ab\u202finspir\u00e9e de la m\u00e9thode Montessori\u202f\u00bb\u00a0par rapport aux\u00a0\u00ab\u202f\u00e9cole\u00a0traditionnelle\u202f\u00bb. \u00c0 l\u2019inverse, les enfants de l\u2019\u00e9cole\u00a0\u00ab\u202fMontessori traditionnelle\u202f\u00bb\u00a0ont de meilleurs r\u00e9sultats, corroborant l\u2019\u00e9tude\u00a0publi\u00e9e en 2006.\u00a0Cette \u00e9tude d\u00e9montre donc\u202f:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"10\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"3\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><strong>L\u2019importance de la qualit\u00e9 et de la fid\u00e9lit\u00e9 de l\u2019impl\u00e9mentation de la p\u00e9dagogie Montessori pour observer les effets pr\u00e9cit\u00e9s\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>D\u2019autres \u00e9tudes se sont\u00a0int\u00e9ress\u00e9es\u00a0\u00e0 des effets sp\u00e9cifiques. En voici\u00a0les\u00a0r\u00e9sultats les\u00a0plus int\u00e9ressants\u202f:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"7\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><strong>Les enfants des \u00e9coles Montessori ont une\u00a0cr\u00e9ativit\u00e9\u00a0plus d\u00e9velopp\u00e9e\u00a0que ceux des \u00e9coles traditionnelles<\/strong> (d\u00e9montr\u00e9 par une \u00e9tude r\u00e9alis\u00e9e\u00a0en France, par Besan\u00e7on &amp;\u00a0Lubart, 2008). Ceci vaut pour la cr\u00e9ativit\u00e9 convergente (aptitude \u00e0 cr\u00e9er un assemblage complexe de diff\u00e9rents \u00e9l\u00e9ments ensemble) et divergente (capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 cr\u00e9er de nombreux \u00e9l\u00e9ments diff\u00e9rents \u00e0 partir d\u2019un seul sujet)<\/li>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"7\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"2\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><strong>Les \u00e9l\u00e8ves Montessori ont de meilleures\u00a0comp\u00e9tences socio-\u00e9motionnelles<\/strong> (selon une \u00e9tude r\u00e9alis\u00e9e aux Etats-Unis par Rathunde &amp;\u00a0 Csikszentmihalyi, 2005). Les comp\u00e9tences sociales incluent notamment un affect plus d\u00e9velopp\u00e9. Au niveau \u00e9motionnel, on retrouve une plus grande motivation intrins\u00e8que, une meilleure concentration, et un int\u00e9r\u00eat concern\u00e9 dans les activit\u00e9s acad\u00e9miques<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Les \u00e9tudes cit\u00e9es ci-dessus ont permis de quantifier les effets de la p\u00e9dagogie Montessori sur les comp\u00e9tences acad\u00e9miques, cr\u00e9atives et socio-\u00e9motionnelles, en la comparant \u00e0 d\u2019autres syst\u00e8mes \u00e9ducatifs. Toutefois, il existe \u00e0 ce jour peu de recherches\u00a0qui cherchent \u00e0 comprendre pourquoi ces effets sont observ\u00e9s\u202f: quels\u00a0sont les m\u00e9canismes\u00a0neuro-cognitifs\u00a0qui jouent un r\u00f4le cl\u00e9\u202f? Comment se d\u00e9veloppent-ils chez les enfants en fonction de leur\u00a0environnement scolaire\u202f?<\/p>\n<p>Dans ce contexte, l\u2019ARdEM et ses \u00e9coles membres collaborent activement avec des neuroscientifiques qui \u00e9tudient le d\u00e9veloppement de l\u2019enfant chez des sujets Montessori. Des \u00e9tudes sont actuellement r\u00e9alis\u00e9es au CHUV \u00e0 Lausanne, avec les derni\u00e8res techniques de neuro-imagerie, afin de d\u00e9crypter les aires et signaux du cerveau qui contribuent au bon fonctionnement de l\u2019apprentissage.<\/p>\n<p>Les r\u00e9sultats issus de ces recherches seront r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement mentionn\u00e9s sur notre site (voir revue de litt\u00e9rature ci-dessous). En utilisant une batterie de t\u00e2ches cognitives et socio-\u00e9motionnelles, ils ont d\u00e9montr\u00e9 que la p\u00e9dagogie<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0Montessori<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0permettait d\u2019\u00e9lever les comp\u00e9tences des enfants\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00e0 de nombreux niveaux<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0par rapport aux \u00e9coles traditionnelles<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, avec\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">un gain\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">au niveau\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">des r\u00e9sultats acad\u00e9miques, de la compr\u00e9hension sociale<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0et<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0de la\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">r\u00e9silience\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">au fil des ans. Ils ont aussi identifi\u00e9 que les enfants Montessori avaient une pr\u00e9f\u00e9rence plus prononc\u00e9e pour les t\u00e2ches scolaires et donc un plaisir plus grand \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9cole. Finalement cette \u00e9tude d\u00e9montre la capacit\u00e9 de la p\u00e9dagogie Montessori \u00e0 augmenter\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">globalement\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">les chances de r\u00e9ussites des enfants. En effet, les enfants issus de milieu socio-\u00e9conomique d\u00e9favoris\u00e9\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">obtiennent des r\u00e9sultats en nette progression sur trois ans, pour arriver \u00e0 des valeurs comparables aux enfants issus de milieu<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">x<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0favo<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ris\u00e9s<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0dans les \u00e9coles conventionnelles.
